Role Overview
Hands-on experience with:
Equipment installation and hardware bring-up
Card/module installation
Fiber patching, cleaning and labeling
Optical Tx/Rx power measurement
Alarm and hardware-health validation
- Experience in 100G/200G/400G or other high-capacity optical services.
- Basic working knowledge of Cisco IOS/IOS-XR, software upgrades and device configuration.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet/DCN switching, VLANs, management IPs and uplink configuration.
- Ability to perform end-to-end connectivity, service and protection validation.
- Experience preparing/executing MOP/NIP, ATP/test reports and implementation documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot jointly with NOC/OEM/customer teams during implementation and acceptance.
Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience in Optical Transport / DWDM / OTN network deployment and commissioning.
- Experience working on Cisco NCS / optical transport platforms or comparable carrier-grade DWDM/OTN equipment.
- Understanding of optical network components such as transponders, amplifiers, optical channels, protection and OSC/management connectivity.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on exposure to Cisco NCS1014 / NCS1001 or other NCS1000-series optical platforms.
- Exposure to EDFA, MD32/ROADM, PSM and OSC.
- Experience with optical measurements/tests such as OSNR, insertion loss, ASE and PDL.
- Hands-on experience with 400G BER / traffic testers and RFC/service validation.
- Exposure to Cisco Catalyst 9300 series for DCN deployment.
- Experience with optical NMS/controller platforms and channel/service creation; Cisco COSM/CONC exposure would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in Airtel or large telecom operator optical networks/data centers.
